August 29, 1953, Stockholm, Sweden – Light heavyweight winners receive their medals for the 82.5kg weight class at the 1953 World Championships in Stockholm (left to right):
Trofim Lomakin (USSR, silver medal), Arkady Vorobyev (USSR, gold medal), Stanley Stanczyk (USA, bronze medal)
Medals are being presented by Bruno Nyberg (Finland, IWF President).
All three medal winners were the same as at the Summer Olympics held a year earlier in Helsinki with one significant change – Olympic bronze medalist, 29-year old Arkady Vorobyev won the World title with two world records and forced both of his opponents to make one step down on the medal stand.
