Gennady Ivanchenko: Lifting for the Dynamo Club (Riga, Latvia)
One of the most memorable Soviet athletes of the 1970s, Gennady Ivanchenko is getting ready for a snatch lift competing for the Dynamo Club of Riga Latvia at the local meet.
Obviously, the look-and-feel of athletes in the Olympic weightlifting is rather secondary to the weights they actually lift in the competitions.
Still, there were always “poster boys” of this sport and Ivanchenko was definitely one of them in his era. He was very impressive in terms of his appearance on the competition platform as well as the poundage results he managed to show in his career.
