June 19, 1968, Leningrad, Russia, USSR– Weightlifters of the national Team USSR are being introduced at the opening ceremony of the 1968 European Championships in Leningrad (left to right*):
Alexey Vakhonin (Russia, 56kg, bronze medal), Dito Shanidze (Georgia, 60kg, silver medal), Boris Selitsky (Russia, 82.5kg, gold medal), Yevgeny Smirnov (Russia, 75kg, silver medal), Jaan Talts (Estonia, 90kg, gold medal), Leonid Zhabotinsky (Ukraine, 90+kg, gold medal).
Notes: * information after the athlete’s name includes the weight class and the place won after the end of the tournament. Soviet middleweight Viktor Kurentsov (75kg, gold medal) is not present at the photo.
