August 4, 1971, Lubeck, Germany – Soviet featherweight Vladimir Anikin of Riga, Latvia competes in the 60kg class at the 1971 Baltic Cup in Lubeck.
Vladimir Anikin (1946-1981?) was one of the strongest Soviet bantamweight lifters the the early to mid 1970s. He was a vice champion of Europe (1974), USSR champion (1974), USSR Cup winner (1971, 1972), USSR champion in the clean-and-jerk (1972, 1974) and snatch (1972, 1973).
Anikin competed for the Army club of Riga, Latvia. He won the Latvian titles in the bantamweight (56kg) in 1971 and in 1973 and in featherweight (60kg) in 1975 and 1976. His personal best were
- 255kg (110+145) in the 56kg class (1974) and
- 262.5kg (115+147.5) in the 60kg (1976) class.
