May 21, 1982, Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, USSR – Legendary Yurik Vardanyan of Leninakan (Gyumri), Armenia lifts a world record in the clean-and-jerk (228kg) in the 90kg class at the 1982 USSR Championships in Dnepropetrovsk.
In the end, Yurik Vardanyan won a gold medal with an outstanding 415kg (190+225) total. It was his 4th national title and he set 4 world records on his way to the top of the medal stand:
