Birds in October: Jacksonville Beach Wannabe
As seen in Jacksonville Beach, FL (October 2020).
It’s not a bird per se, of course. Maybe, it could be called a bird wannabe.
A pilot is preparing his powered paraglider on the beach and then takes off!
This was the first time I saw how it’s done. Fascinating view for sure!
Powered paragliders fly 15 to 50 mph (24 to 80 km/h) at altitudes up about to 18,000 ft (5,500 m). The current world recordis 24 898 ft (7,589m). It was set by Ramon Morillas Salmeron (Granada, Spain) in 2009.
