Alexander Senshin: World Record in Moscow (1980)
May 13, 1980, Moscow – Alexander Senshin of Voroshilovgrad, Ukraine clean-and-jerks 142.5 kg at the 1980 USSR Championship held at the Izmaylovo Arena in Moscow. It’s a new world record in the 52kg weight class.
Alexander Senshin (1949-2017) was one of the best soviet flyweights from the early 1970s to mid 1980s.
He competed for the Avangard club of Voroshilovgrad and was the 2x winner of the USSR Championship (1974, 1982), 5x siver medalist (1976, 1979, 1980, 1983, 1984) и 3х bronze medalist (1975, 1981) of the nationals in the USSR. Senshin also was a 3х USSR Cup Winner (1977, 1978, 1979) and won Championship of Ukraine in 1976, 1978, 1979 and 1980.
Alexander competes at three USSR Summer Spartaliades – in 1975 (3 place), 1979 (2) and 1983 (2).
Senshin’s forte was his clean-and-jerk lift. He won 5 USSR titles in this lift (1973, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1983) and set 3 world records in the cj.
