    What was the controversy?

The situation was that Bob won the championship outright, with his WR c&j. Jan took the same and succeeded but was still behind. It was then decided that Bob’s attempt was not technically ‘legal’, since there had been a last minute change in specified attempts. Jan Talts was awarded the championships…although the next year, this insane decision was reversed and Bednarski declared the rightful world champion. Very strange incident.
