U.S. Weightlifters at Bob Hoffman’s Swimming Pool in York, PA
The History in Color series features a color version of the group photo of American weightlifters taken at the swimming pool of Bob Hoffman in York, PA.
The original black-and-white photo was taken after the 1948 Olympic Trials, when the team candidates were taking some final training before heading off to London. It was bublished in the September 1948 Issue of Strength and Health.

The only Joe Puleo I’m aware of competed in the 60s and 70s. I find his year of birth listed online as 1946.
So that probably isn’t him up there.

Hi Bradley! Very good points about Joe Puleo with one correction – he was born in 1942 (not in 1946). I ran this photo via Facebook friends and it was identified as 1948. Obviously, the person on the photo is not 6 years old and not Joe Puleo 🙂 Joe Pittman is in the top row. Thanks!
