The 2017 IWF World Championships tournament is scheduled to be held in Anaheim, USA from November 27, 2017 t0 December 5, 2017. Munich, Sepember 2, 1972 – U.S. light heavyweight Michael Karchut competes at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany.
Mike Karchut (b. 1944) was one of the most solid and classy American weightlifters of the 1970s.
He was a 2x U.S. Olympians (1972 and 1980), champion of the 1971 Pan American Games.
He competed for the United States at several World Championships and won 8 Senior U.S. National Championships (1969-1973, 1975, 1978, 1980) .

Wonderful lifter and an equally great guy to boot. Experienced many injuries that would have defeated most lifters yet always gave a great account of himself. Nearly defeated David Rigert, for third place, in 1970 at the World Championships!
Many people I talked to told me that Mike Karchut is one of the classiest lifters ever.
