Doping and Me
Doping and me are the North Pole and the South Pole.
However lately all I’ve been doing is studying the topic of drugs in sports.
I did this study of history of disqualifications in Olympic weightlifing at Lift Up, and new online tool for reviewing IWF sanctions, and now I was pleased to find out the New York Times gave me credit for their Athletes Who Were Denied Their Olympic Medal Moments Because Others Were Doping interactive presentation and infographics.
I love Olympic weightlifting. I used to compete in my junior years. And it hurts me deeply to hear about all these scandals and it makes me feel like the sport goes downhill with all this negativity and chase for bad guys, teams and nations.
With all these said, I am no expert on doping, WADA listings, sport politics and businesses. I just love Olympic weightlifting!
I want my sport to survive these times and bad publicity. Obviously, the IWF and its President are no newbies in the topic. No way they didn’t know about it with decades of running the sport.
They knew it better than anyone before and hope they know what they are doing now.
I am discovering new angles and new areas (for me) and how polarized people are in sports now. It’s really a war out there. I don’t want this sport to be wiped out and destroyed in this battle.
Long live Olympic weightlifting!
