Early Morning Birdwatchers and Shorebirds in Belle Isle
Birds are early morning creatures.
Want to watch birds and actually learn about them?
Get up early. Pump yourself with coffee. Go to the natural habitat areas.
Do all of this before 9 a.m. After 9 a.m. birds are off.
Here is a mini-report on a bird watching session on Saturday morning in the Belle Isle Marshes.
The main object of observation are shore birds – plovers, sandpipers, greater and lesser yellowlegs, killdeers, dunlins, terns and other little fellas of shorebird brigades. Nice addition to those are massive groups of egrets and herons having fun in the background of the marsh lands.
