American Goldfinch
Here is another character making his debut on the pages of this magazine.
This is American Goldfinch. This handsome little finch is the state bird of New Jersey, Iowa, and Washington. He is a frequent guy at feeders, where it takes primarily sunflower and nyjer.
I spotted this little fella on the grass area in one of the parks in our area.
The finchie really didn’t mind me making pictures of him.
Goldfinches are perky yellow birds with a black patch on forehead.
He has a black tail with conspicuous white ramp, black wings with white wing bars. A short, conical bill.
Goldfinches are often called Wild Canary.
After I was done with my photo shoot, my new friend turned to me:
– Are we done?
And took off with his bouncy little flight the bushes nearby.
