Chuck Met you when I was a teenager, in York, PA. I was a busboy at the Yorktowne Hotel and you and the guys and Bob Hoffman came in for the Sunday Buffett. I always remembered you and taking the time to talk to a busboy.

I don't think Chuck really thought he would actually make the Olympic team in 1976 but he did make an easy 198 snatch at that time without regular training and at 43, so he retained a lot of strength. The 'Masters' lifting program had not yet started at that time.

:: 6/2/2015: Mal Irwin, mal_irwin@hotmail.com Please Select, Australia
Strength and Health wasn't always accurate either. Maybe Masters lifting was starting up about then.

:: 6/1/2015: Arthur Chidlovski, Boston NA, USA
In 1976, Chuck Vinci turned 43. Hard to compete on the international level at this age.

Hi all , I read in a 1973 edition of 'Strength and Health' that Chuck intended to make a comeback to try qualify for the 1976 Olympics. Did he ever continue with that effort . I don't have any later copies so could not follow up on the story . Thanks Ted
